Carlson Receives Certification From the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC)
Carlson, a business specializing in high-quality nutritional supplements, is proud to announce national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the WBDC-Midwest (Women’s Business Development Center-Midwest), a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). WBENC is the nation’s leading third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women.
“Earning our WBENC Certification was extremely important to us,” said Carlson President Carilyn Anderson. “It’s the ultimate seal for women-owned businesses in the United States and provides an outstanding network of female business leaders. Being part of this community means we’re devoted to not just delivering high-quality nutritional supplements but also promoting the professional advancement of women.”
The WBENC standard of certification implemented by the WBDC-Midwest is a meticulous process, including an in-depth review of the business and a site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women, and that the business has appropriate structure and strategic business planning and implementation in place.
Not only is Carlson women-owned and led today, it began in 1965 as one woman’s mission to improve the health of her family through nutrition. Founder Susan Carlson’s father suffered from heart issues but found support through natural-source vitamin E. Inspired by this discovery and relying on her background as a pharmacist, Susan created one of the first full lines of natural-source vitamin E worldwide. Carlson is proud to still be family owned and female-led today by Susan’s two daughters, Carilyn Anderson (president) and Kirsten Carlson (vice president).
